Outriders Trailer Confirms the Game for PS5 and Xbox Series X

A new trailer for Outriders confirms that the game will be released on PS5 and Xbox Series X. Square Enix and developer People Can Fly announced Outriders at E3 2019 for a summer 2020 release date, but a delay of the game has also been announced.
In a surprise trailer posted today, it was confirmed that Outriders will be available in holiday 2020 on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X. This makes the game the second confirmed Xbox Series X launch title after Halo Infinite and the second confirmed PS5 launch title after Godfall.

The trailer doesn't offer any gameplay but People Can Fly says that the game is "a 1-3 player co-op RPG shooter set in an original, dark and desperate sci-fi universe." Players will create a character called an Outrider and will adventure across a hostile planet called Enoch. The story is about a "mysterious signal" and it offers various guns to shoot and gear-sets to create.
It sounds like it could offer shooting gameplay like The Division and a story like Anthem with the co-op play of Godfall. People Can Fly also says that the game "offers countless hours of gameplay" suggesting that fans will need to set more than a few evenings aside to fully enjoy it.

Many fans are excited to hear that another PS5 and Xbox Series X game has been announced, but some have also said that they feel tired of looter shooter games. There are so many looter shooters to choose from such as Destiny 2, Borderlands 3, and Warframe. Only two PS5 games have been confirmed and they are both looter shooters, so it's not surprising to see fans ask for more variety.
People Can Fly may be able to get fans feeling a bit more positive about Outriders by releasing a new gameplay trailer. The leaked Godfall gameplay trailer upset many who said that it looked like a PS5 game. If Outriders can really use the PS5 and Xbox Series X hardware to offer something that looks brilliant, it may get a few more people supporting it.
However, this won't stop fans from hoping that there will be a wider range of games available on the consoles at launch. After all, there have been rumors that the PS5 will have a new Ratchet and Clank game. If these games were officially confirmed, fans will be able to smile knowing that it won't just be loot shooters ad infinitum when the PS5 and Xbox Series X launch.
