It's February 11th and that means Call of Duty: Modern Warfare's Season 2 update is live. This new season promises to bring many new changes, including new Battle Pass rewards for players to unlock.
Along with the release of Season 2, Infinity Ward released a trailer teasing the 100 tiers and rewards that players can earn in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. With new weapons, skins, and the addition of the legendary Ghost operator to unlock, fans are sure to be busy all season long.
As in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare's previous season, Season 2's Battle Pass will be split into free and premium tiers, with balance-impacting rewards being available in the free tier. That includes the free new functional weapons, the Grau 5.56 assault rifle and the Striker 45 SMG. These will unlock at tiers 15 and 31, respectively. Free tier players can also earn 300 Call of Duty points and a few cosmetics, including calling cards and weapon charms.
Players who purchase the Battle Pass will gain access to the 100 tiers the trailer advertised, along with the chance to earn more than 100 rewards. The main reward most fans are excited about in Season 2 is unquestionably the new legendary operator Simon "Ghost" Riley, even if some fans aren't happy about Ghost's new look. Ghost will be unlocked instantly upon purchase of the Battle Pass, along with a new Operator mission.
Premium Battle Pass players will also get access to all new weapon blueprints, including the PS4-exlcusive Lucky Strike, more all-new Operator skins, and challenge watches. Premium players will also be able to earn up to 1300 Call of Duty points. The Battle Pass Bundle will also grant players 20 Tier skips, which will instantly jump players ahead 20 Tiers. The Season 2 update also brought back the much-anticipated classic map Rust.
The new rewards, Rust, and the return of the popular Gunfight Tournaments and Ruleset Playlist are plenty exciting, but fans are also hyped for the apparent tease of a new battle royale mode. While nothing has been officially announced, the opening cinematic for Season 2 strongly suggests such a mode could be coming to Modern Warfare in the near future.
The popular military shooter is doing very well in terms of sales, as Activision revealed in the financial results of its most recent fiscal quarter that Modern Warfare actually outsold Black Ops 4. Unsurprisingly, Activision is planning on releasing another Call of Duty this year, though it doesn't expect this new one will sell as well as Modern Warfare did.
